On the rocks…again |
pictureyosemite posted a photo:
In the evening, a film was put on in the Panorama Lounge to help us all pass the time (Oceans 13). During the film, we began to come loose from the rocks and the engine was used to manouver us off. Unfortunately, during the move, the winds sprung up again and blew us onto some other rocks nearby. You can see the pictures taken from the San Martin base at www.komar.org/faq/travel/vacation/antarctica/ocean-nova/ that show the ship stuck at its different places.
This photograph is taken the following morning. You can just make out the Hesperides in the distance, top right, waiting for the winds to die down to come back to assist us. One of the many unfortunate, frustrating things was that the katabatic winds were so localised - just a few miles away and it was all relatively calm.
